ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I am a therapist. One who has studied with great theatre artists and compassionate healers. I am a mother, step mother, wife, daughter, sister. I have had losses, those of first and second trimester kind. I share before I "should". I value humor, sincerity, kindness and grace.

EXPERIENCE

Concretely, I have worked in a variety of environments from the psychiatric hospital, to residential treatment, to intensive outpatient, to EAP work with healthcare workers, to primary care settings, to individual therapy.

I have treated individuals, couples, and the occasional family (typically involving at least one teenager).

Abstractly, my work is informed by my service in the Peace Corps (Albania '08-'10),  my time directing plays in the community, and my belief in believing.

Modalities which may be present during our sessions: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Drama Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
